A modern odyssey.
Fred works a dead-end job at a mothball company. Nothing goes right for him, except his girlfriend.
Fred plans to propose. Then she is accepted to an art school in California. She leaves for 2 years.
Fred spirals. The ring cost $11,000, bought on credit. He pawns it to a diamond mob and books a one-way flight to Bangkok.
Bangkok is the first stop. Each place after it takes something from Fred and rebuilds him.
Acts 1 and 2 drafted. 36,000 words so far.

Chapter 3
On the upper left hand corner read “Come See Phi Phi!” and in the bottom right hand corner it read Phi Phi Islands, Thailand. Fred gazed at the poster in awe. … The picture showed an aerial view of a fantasy of crystal clear light blue waters, pearly sand, and the most magnificent limestone cliffs towering above it all. Yet as Fred gazed upon the picture on the poster, his heart sank and he sighed to himself.
